DARSHANA SAMYATA
FIRST APPEARANCE:
Chapter 1 “Witness to the Dream”
CURRENTLY DECLASSIFIED DATA:
A 22-year old woman living in Jassara, the last great human city, in the year 22015 H.E.
Imbued with an extraordinarily strong sense of self and a powerful ego from birth, Darshana is aptly described as a ‘force of nature’. Prone to acting with little consideration given to the consequences, Darshana’s every move in life is centered around asserting her own dominance, perhaps out of fear of admitting her own weakness. Darshana was devastated early on in life by the sudden departure of her father, Izudin Samyata. Soon after, Darshana’s mother, Amari, also abandoned the young woman.
Darshana, now on her own, quickly learned that the easiest way to win an argument was with her fists, so they became her signature tool for meeting the world on her own terms. Before flunking out of school due to poor grades and a pathological problem with authority, Darshana met Maya. The pair went about the difficult process of carving out a space for themselves in a harsh world.
Now having experienced death, the afterlife, and reincarnation, Darshana has now embarked on a journey to find her father and learn his reasons for abandoning their family.
MAYA
FIRST APPEARANCE:
Chapter 2 “The Darshana Samyata Experience”
CURRENTLY DECLASSIFIED DATA:
24 years old at the time of her death. Darshana’s closest ally and roommate. Estranged from her family, Maya and Darshana connected deeply with one another through each other’s desire to find a new ‘home’. Maya has a powerful imagination and is a natural storyteller. Her fondness for getting high and allowing her mind to explore new ideas and realms gave her ego the strength to keep itself together in the Celestial Engine during her time in the afterlife.
Maya’s strong love for Darshana combined with her unique imagination gave her the ability to return Darshana back to life by reincarnating her own soul as part of Darshana’s body; thus healing the fatal wound that had killed Darshana in the first place. Maya’s consciousness is now trapped within the liminal space of Darshana’s body.
